This is the fourth little peek into our abode...

It was exceptionally cold during the night between Nov. 5 and 6, only +2 centigrade, with a bit of rain. So Lefka Ori received some more snow to give it an even more majestic look from our patio.

But the sky also cleared during the night, so Monday morning, Nov. 6, 2006, gave us sunshine and the pleasant warmth to enjoy breakfast on the patio.

Nikos' friendliness keeps surprising us day after day. Today he drove over to our place with his scooter, and brought us a bag full of aubergines, nectarines, red & green paprikas and peppers from his garden.

With the aubergines Kiti prepared a tasty moussaka in lasagne-style.

We took a taxi to a tiny village, Kalami that lies above the Souda Bay, and just a few kilometers from Kalyves.

The inevitable church.

One of the "specialities" (apart from a couple of nice, beautifully scenic tavarnas) is the abandoned prison on the highest point of the village.

The gate looks very sombre indeed...

...but somehow the steps leading to a guard-tower seem now almost idyllic.

But a prison is a prison, isolated by a wall...

...and inside the walls there is the actual prison with its windows.

Knowing that no-one is imprisoned inside, the wall looks again more interesting.
