A shopping trip to Hania

The main objective was to go to the open market (Saturdays east of the old harbour, Thursdays west of the same) to find a pair of long johns for Hannu for the winter. That item seems to be extremely rare on Crete, and hard to find. Perhaps Cretan males enjoy freezing their balls when it gets cold, or they just are not like Hannu who enjoys sitting out on the patio, musing and drinking wine, even in the chilly, dark night. Perhaps, as we've seen, they prefer sitting inside, in the warm café, breathing cigarette smoke, and watching a game of football clicking the rosary beads (the bigger the better).

Something resembling the long johns was found. A pair of long, thin excercise pants by the very famous brand called "ADIBAS" (no mis-spelling there ;-). EUR 5 !

Because of the arduous search, we had limited opportunities to capture Hania's sights in pictures. But some important details were caught...

But the real reason for taking these alleys, evading the sea-front of the old harbour, was ofcourse this building...

...because it is the little hotel where we enjoyed the upstairs room and balcony after our wedding (quite some years ago).
The lady who owned the hotel at that time is still in our loving memory. Learning that we were newlyweds, she brought us a bottle of sparkling wine and a candle to that very balcony.

You may guess this? Nikos came again to our abode, actually twice, with wild asparagus, grape-fruit, a big log for the fire-place and some oranges for us. That man is a wonder, an elf.

Kiti's lamb stifado (don't think we do not enjoy something else in the meantime when food is not mentioned) and Douloufakis Sangiovese - Cabernet Sauvingon 2003 for supper. A superb dark-coloured wine with exquisite black-berry tastes, strong body, and spicy hues.
