From Dec. 19, 2006 till next entry![]() Our furry guardians, Milli & Ida, in the olive grove just beside our abode on Dec. 19, 2006. A Christmassy green pasture for them to rest after a walk to see the sheep and the little lambs. Our guardian spirit, Valeria, returned from her refreshing vacation in the beautiful Pilion area on mainland Greece. It was good to see her, talk with her, and to feel that our affairs with the abode are in good hands. And ofcourse Nikos swung by at least twice bringing sparagia and firewood. A very tasty dinner-supper in the taverna Mythos. On a Tuesday evening, off-season, it was packed with elderly people from England who propably have houses in Almyrida, Plaka or other nearby villages. The word about a good restaurant seems to go around - as it should. The mail brought us a very welcomed letter from Jani, Kiti's brother, containing Tuomari Nurmio's "Tangomanifesti", a superb new interpretation of tangos. No wonder the evening ended up dancing at home to the tunes of Nurmio and also to those of Pave Maijanen. Dec. 20, 2006 Nikos came for a supper. Kiti's moussaka á la Finlandia made Nikos smile, with good appetite. Dec. 21, 2006 Today we found a very little, abandoned puppy by the road leading to our house. It was very sad because the puppy was in great pain. The only thing we could think of was to take it to Hillary who is connected with the local Animal Fund. That was very fortunate because she was able to arrange the puppy immediately into the hands of the fund's activist who took the puppy to their vet. Later we found that the heart-breaking pain was caused by a broken pelvis which they hoped might heal since the puppy was only some weeks old. But it made us very sad to learn that, on the same day, also another abandoned puppy was found in one of the waterpipes in Kalyves. Unfortunately it's hard to believe that humans are not involved in abandoning those puppies that seemed to be of the same litter. [ If you see only this frame, click here to see the complete diary ] |
