It has been pleasant, no it has been great, to enjoy the warmth. Even moments past mid-night have been so warm that is has been possible to enjoy wine out on the patio. It's INO Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot 2005 in the glass (this time). A trip to Samonas with Inkku and Pekka We wanted to visit Samonas again, now with Inkku and Pekka, because the tiny-tiny village offers a magnificent view from 381 meters (a reading I & P got from their gps) to Lefka Ori and the Kalyves area... The extra bonus in Samonas is a very popular taverna, The Eagle's Nest The name, dispite of the bad connotation, is quite apt considering the view. And the food is very tasty indeed, so it's no wonder that so many Cretans drive up there. Now we had the joy of watching and witnessing a family celebration. At least three generations, almost 50 people, had gathered to the exuberant, noisy lunch together. ![]() There we also saw how the future air-guitar champion made his fans wild. You know his future by admiring his stance! It's now 9.50 pm in our Kalyves abode. The outside temperature is an amazing 20.9 centigrade ! Got a recent SMS from Annaleena (from near Rethymnon) that their windows and doors are being banged with the fierce winds. A change in weather is on its way! Let's see if an island of this size holds only one, or more, weathers on its northern shore. The diffrences between the south shores and the north shores are known to be great at times of extreme weathers. [ If you see only this frame, click here to see the complete diary ] |
