April 14, 2007 Our last full day in Crete and Kalyves. Thousands of things to be packed, millions of things to be organised in the house. Maybe it's good, so that one has less time to feel the sadness of going away after 7 months. Our feelings are a big mixture of that sadness and a happy feeling of returning to our home in Finland. But during the day we had also time to go to the beach. ![]() Some tourists are already thinking that it's summery enough (compared to the way the Cretans are dressed when maintaining their boat). A little consolation to our sadness: the tourists are arriving, and then we feel it's good to go away before everything is crowded and life in Kalyves looses its village feeling. ![]() Now Kiti still had the chance to enjoy the sea, and have it all to herself. ![]() The amazing power of nature on the beach... ![]() Olive trees are preparing to bloom again. ...and in the olive groves, on fields, by the roadsides...is surely something we will remember fondly when back in Finland. And ofcourse there are the wonderful people, the sounds of the cocks, sheep, goats, dogs, cats and birds that surrounded us daily. Yesterday we visited our good friend Marianne in her house to say goodbye to her and her dear dog-friend Wuschi. Our dear Valeria came to the house in the afternoon to say goodbye, and brought Kiti a beautiful pair of earrings and a wonderful necklace. In the evening we met our special, dear Nikos in Gero Platanos where he started to work again. We will be missing all of you, and many, many other people in Crete, and hoping to see you all again.
