An original wine enriched with adding, and refermenting with, the remnants of a wine made from amarone - that's a ripasso. An Italian specialty enriching wine alive, not mixing it.
One might close one's eyes, and go deep into visions. One might think of a dance over the graves, a profane act over the grave of a wine gone by, a manufacturing of a Frankenstein from already rotten limbs. - And one would be just a purist building up a brain-ghost. One who has lost the tradition, all recycling, a fool with no idea of karma. One throwing away living matter. A mother abandoning her child. A human being to whom centuries, after a ship-wreck, bring auction happiness with bottles. A man who no longer sees a living connection to the last harvest.
Mara is a mild perfection of the ripasso concept. No over-powering from the previous generation, enough of your own volition. A lively, medium-bodied wine with great respect of the tradition and some enriched character. In the taste just that right hint of raisiny hues belonging to amarone. In the nose a wine with real roots in the soil, and a taste bringing up mature grape.
