Bodegas Campo Viejo gives shelter to a high-quality Marqués, who, when uncorked, floods your nostrils with royal Rioja. Powerful, oaky tar for your nose, and leather & heavy chains of gold for your mind.
This mature, powerfully brownish wine touches your glass with weight. It feels good to watch its slow, sensuous play on the glass. - There's reason - repeatedly - to stick your nose into the game.
The taste: mature power from tempranillo, graciano and mazuelo with velvety notes. Raisins flutter in the undertones, giving room to a broad, long, tannine-run in the finishing touches of warm, deliciously over-ripe, sun-powered black currants and gooseberries.
Such a wine that a mildly puffing cigar would only enhance the enjoyment. Definately to be had very slowly - at least half a bottle per a pair of enjoying nostrils.
